Every so often, we come across events taking place around the town that we think our readers may find of interest.  This is the first post in our Around the Town series. Calendar of Events:

Monday September 22nd – Oscar Bleacher Seat Lottery begins today for the 78th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday February 22nd at the Kodak Theatre. The Academy will hold a lotto drawing for people to win one of the coveted bleacher seats at the red carpet.  The drawing will be open for one week and of the 20,000 or so who enter the lottoe, only 300 will win so submit your application if you want to get cozy with Hollywood’s elite on Oscar night.

Thursday September 25th at 7 pm – The Grove at Farmers Market is holding a free event for those who RSVP with a face off between Top Chef Contestants Chris Jacobsen and Antonia Lofaso in a friendly cooking competition. There will also be free tastings and demos from the Grove restaurants like The Farm of Beverly Hills, Morels French Bistro & Steakhouse, Maggiano’s Little Italy and The Whisper Lounge. Thursday, Friday & Saturday September 25th, 26th and 27th – The LA Philharmonic is holding three free concerts called “Phil the House” that will feature the LA Phil playing Bernstein’s Overture to Candide, Stravinsky’s Petrushka and Beethoven’s Symphone No. 7. Seat reservations are highly recommended unless you want to wait on the stand-by line for first come first served available seating.
